Green Balkans' campaign to restore the Lesser kestrels wins the audience award at the BBF's 2022 Annual Biodiversity and Climate Awards

Aug. 16, 2022
The campaign for the recovery of Lesser kestrels was among the honorees at the eleventh Annual Biodiversity and Climate Awards of our colleagues from the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation.

This year, the work of the Green Balkans was nominated in the following categories:
  • "Most successful campaign related to the protection of biodiversity and climate" for our activities on the recovery of the Lesser kestrels and the "Natura 2000 in Bulgaria - New Horizons" project,
  • "Activist for nature", where our colleague Elena Stoeva was nominated.
Much to the delight of our team, in the category of "Most Successful Campaign", our long-term efforts to restore the Lesser kestrels were recognized with the public award, with a total of 362 votes.

This award is very important to us because it is indicative of the public supporting our efforts and is a high appreciation of our long-term work.

We would like to remind you that our team is currently working on the project "Life for Lesser kestrel" LIFE19 NAT/BG/001017, funded by the LIFE program of the EU. It is a continuation of our previous work on the restoration of the species in Bulgaria. The project aims to support the population of the Lesser Kestrels in Sakar, and the creation of new colonies of this tiny, but very useful falcon, in our country.

And who are the finalists and winners in the other categories of the Annual Biodiversity and Climate Awards, you can see HERE.

Thank you to everyone who voted for us. Your support is very important for our team!
