On the 21st of May, 2022, the Fourteenth Student Scientific Conference "The Ecology - A Way of Thinking" was held. The event is organized by the Department of Ecology and Environmental Conservation at the Faculty of Biology of the Paisii Hilendarski University, the Ecological Student Team for Creative Development and Academic Achievements "ESETRA" and the Student Council of Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv, and Green Balkans traditionally supported the forum, providing some of the materials for the participants.
At the conference, we also presented "The Living Exhibition" - a collection of models of rare and protected bird species made in real size and colour. These birds are part of the European ecological network - NATURA 2000 in Bulgaria, whose day is celebrated annually on May 21, and this year the date coincided with the 30th anniversary of the EU LIFE Program.
The event was attended by students and young scientists from the Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv, Agricultural University (AU) - Plovdiv, and Trakia University (TRU) - Stara Zagora, Institute of Forestry - BAS, Institute of Molecular Biology BAS and NPMG "Acad. Lubomir Chakalov ". Four of the students from AU and TrU, participating in the "Nature Academy" of Green Balkans, with the help of their teachers and experts from the Green Balkans prepared and presented to the participants their reports on the Lesser Kestrel, the Saker Falcon and the Karakachan horse.
We remind you that one of the activities of the "Life for the Lesser Kestrel" LIFE19 NAT/BG/001017 project implemented by the Green Balkans with the support of the LIFE Program of the European Union is "Nature Academy", aimed at working with students interested in conservation.
Also, as part of our work on environmental education and training of young nature lovers, the organization works together with the two Universities and the initiative "Student Internships - Phase 2" of the MES, funded by the Operational Program "Science and Education for Smart Growth", co-financed from the European Social Fund.
