Students from PS “Ivan Vazov”, Svilengrad were guests of the Lesser Kestrel in the village of Levka

Students from 7th grade of Primary School “Ivan Vazov”, Svilengrad, visited the Demonstration and Information Center for Environmental Protection Activities on project “Life for Lesser Kestrel” LIFE19 NAT/BG/001017 in the Sakar village of Levka.
The Centre is part of the project activities, led by Green Balkans and financed by Programme LIFE of the EU.
During their visit, the kids learned a lot about the conservation of the Lesser Kestrel, with what she is a benefit to us, as well as the efforts of Green Balkans for the restoration of the species in our country.
Our team also told them about the structure/ composition of the nests, the marking of the birds with rings and why it is necessary, the activities related to the reproduction of the adult birds, feeding and nurturing of the small Kestrels.
The children, also, were able to see the “hovering” Kestrels using binoculars, as well as having exciting encounters with the farm animals, like the Longhorn Goat, raised by livestock breeders in the village and the donkeys Misha and Yori, inhabiting the Center.
