At the end of the breeding season, traditionally the "Life for Lesser Kestrel" LIFE19 NAT/BG/001017 project team made a prevention of the nesting boxes, home of the young falcons.

Over 60 artificial platforms placed in the area of the Sakar village of Levka were examined, cleaned and desinfected within the project, and where needed repaired!

These nests housed the bird families and sheltered their young during the breeding season. In order for them to be used for a longer time, they need to be maintained. This necessitates our intervention.

They were placed in the area where there is the most numerous colony of the species in our country, returned thanks to the efforts of Green Balkans, as an alternative to the natural habitats - the old village roofs. The increasingly rare presence of such type of roofs deprives the Lesser kestrels of breeding places.

Thus, thanks to the efforts of the "Life for Lesser Kestrel" LIFE19 NAT/BG/001017 project team of the Green Balkans, funded by the LIFE program of the EU, in the spring, the birds that arrived in our country from the south, with the first warm days, will find clean and tidy homes. In these homes, we hope to raise a numerous generation.
