There are two pairs of lesser kestrels in the colony of the species in Levka village!

Mar 01, 2023
Just a few days after we shared the news of the first lesser kestrel which had returned from the warm countries to its native colony in Levka, we now have observed the first pairs for the year - female KZ and male WRRL, and female DS and male WRLL!

The team of project "Life for lesser kestrel" LIFE19 NAT/BG/001017, implemented by Green Balkans with the financial support of the LIFE programme of the EU, is happy and proud to announce that the birds are already actively copulating.

In addition, both pairs have already occupied their nests and are preparing them with great enthusiasm for the future happy events - the laying of eggs and raising hatchlings.

Together with the pairs, in the colony there is one more kestrel. This is the female PK who is single for now, but we believe that soon she is going to find her mate too.

Things are getting more and more interesting with each passing day in the colony of lesser kestrels in the village of Levka! Do follow us to not miss the latest "gossip" from the family life of these feathered friends of man - the lesser kestrels.
