Spring has already arrived on the wings of two Lesser Kestrels!

Feb. 18, 2022
This exciting news was shared by the ''Life for Lesser Kestrel''  LIFE19 NAT/BG/001017 project team. It reached us yesterday from the Centre for Environmental Protection Activities in the Sakar village of Levka!

Both birds are female. They are marked with rings with numbers DS and SV and were hatched in 2017 and 2018, and in 2021 they raised 5 youngs each!

It is interesting that for 2021 and 2022 the championship is held by DS, as the period of the first observations of the bird almost coincides for both years!

Our team has long been preparing to welcome the brave travellers. Exhausted by the long migration journey from Africa to Levka, they need plenty of food, which we at the Green Balkans are happy to provide in abundance.

And, at the end of the last year, we cleaned and checked each of the artificial nests placed in the area of Levka so that the birds could find their future homes ready for the feathered families. We hope that this year they will become the home of numerous Lesser Kestrel hatchlings!
