In the past few days, a meeting with over 20 representatives from various projects under the LIFE program took place in Teteven, focusing on the subject 'Successful Communication in Nature Conservation.' The event was organized by the project 'Natura 2000 in Bulgaria - New Horizons,' LIFE17 GIE/BG/371.
Thanks to the professional speakers in Public Relations and Marketing – Justin Toms (from New Bulgarian University and 'ABC Design and Communication') and Dimitar Ivanov (Valival), project leaders, experts, and PR professionals were trained in the latest techniques for communicating their activities and results in the field of nature conservation.
The examples provided for website and news appearance were very valuable, along with pieces of advice on engaging more supporters on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube.
Participants from projects like 'Life for the Lesser Kestrel LIFE 19/NAT/BG/001017’, ‘Conservation of Pomorie Lake coastal lagoon- LIFE 19/NAT/BG/000804’, ‘Securing the recovery of the endangered Saker Falcon in Bulgaria and Southern Romania - LIFE 20 NAT/BG/001162’, 'Life for the Bearded Vulture 101113869, LIFE22-NAT-BG-Bearded Vulture LIFE,' as well as representatives from directions concerning vultures, cetaceans, the Griffon Vulture, and veterinarians from the Green Balkans’ Wildlife Rescue Center, posed a series of questions related to their work and received concrete advice on improving their presentations to their respective audiences.
Each participant received the specialized guide to successful conservation communication that we issued especially for this meeting.
Of course, we combined the useful with the pleasant, as we visited some of the natural landmarks in the Teteven Balkan region in the afternoon.
We extend our gratitude to Justin Toms, who, due to his commitments, couldn't be present in person but still managed to participate online and share his expertise!
We also thank Dimitar Ivanov for sharing valuable advice regarding social media and assisting each participant with examples from his field!
