Summer Academy "Nature"

Jun 29, 2023
...
It is part of the activities of the project ‘’LIFE for Lesser Kestrel’’ LIFE19 NAT/BG/001017 performed by Green Balkans and financed by the programme LIFE of European Union.

As you already know, the initiatives’ goal is to find motivated young people from student communities, who it will help in their future professional realisation. At the same time, it is related to numerous activities presenting the work of Green Balkans and the project to students from various universities and courses.

This is what took us to the seashore and to the wonderful nature of Strandzha mountain. There, students and teachers from the course "Ecology and Environmental Protection" from the Faculty of Plant Protection and Agroecology of the Agricultural University Plovdiv conducted a field practice.
During our presentations, the students learned more about both the Lesser Kestrel species  and the unique nature of Strandzha, on the territory of which there are many protected areas, a natural park and last but not least - protected areas of the ecological network NATURA 2000.
The road to the place of the students’ practice passed by Stara Zagora - this is why we didn’t miss to visit the Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Centre of Green Balkans. There, the students got an up-close look at our breeding and release activities for Lesser Kestrels, part of the work to support the species in the wild.

We thank. Dr. T. Bileva and Dr. K. Stoyanov (Department of Botany and Agrometeorology) from the Agricultural University for the invitation. It was a pleasure for us!
