Svilengrad hosted the International Youth Conference on ''European Green Belt - Biodiversity, Culture and History''

At the end of the last week, the Municipal Library of Svilengrad hosted an International Youth Conference on ''European Green Belt - Biodiversity, Culture and History"

The event, organized by Green Balkans, Svilengrad History Museum and partners from the Association of Back to Nature Youth and Sport Club - Turkey, was part of the celebration of Green Belt Day 2021. Traditionally, this event is celebrated annually in September as part of the European Green Belt initiative, and the official guest in it this year's was the mayor of Svilengrad - arch. Anastas Karchev.

Within two days, the participants and guests of the conference got acquainted with various initiatives, reports and scientific developments aimed at biodiversity, culture and history of the European Green Belt. The presentations were prepared and reported by young professionals, students, PhD students and other experts.
Representatives from Turkey and Greece took part with international participation. They presented activities for the conservation and study of the Imperial Eagle and Ineada National Park in Turkey, and the Silk Museum in Sofli, Greece. From the other presenters, the guests of the event learned more about the endangered wild animals received by the Rescue Center of Green Balkans from the territory of the Green Belt in Bulgaria, our activities on Lesser Kestrel in the Sakar region, dolphins in the Black Sea, flora, fauna, history and tourism in the region of Svilengrad.

The second part of the conference was in the field. The work of our colleagues from BSPB was presented, the Center for Environmental Activities of the "Life for Lesser Kestrel" LIFE19 NAT/BG/001017 project in the Sakar village of Levka was visited, as well as the Green Balkans' Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Center in Stara Zagora.
