The Lesser Kestrel, visiting students from Pleven and Lovech!

Oct. 27, 2021
The Green Balkans ''Life for Lesser Kestrel" LIFE19 NAT/BG/001017 project team visited Pleven and Lovech, where they introduced students to the little falcon and the activities for its restoration in our country!

In Pleven, we visited the "Valeri Petrov" Primary School and were guests of the class of our friend Bobby, whom our team met at our participation in Uzana Polyana Fest this year. Little Bobby was captivated by the birds and the fate of the Lesser Kestrel, which greatly impressed us all. That is why, quite naturally, he was the first assistant of our team during the visit, and in addition to helping with the presentation, he released a Common kestrel - a bird, first cousin of the Lesser Kestrel.

The second school we visited was the National Vocational High School of Veterinary Medicine "Prof. Dr D. Dimov ” in Lovech. There, we talked with future veterinarians about nature conservation, environmental protection, wildlife veterinary medicine, the role of veterinarians in extinct species return programs in the context of the ''Life for Lesser Kestrel'' LIFE19 NAT/BG/001017 project. Finally, the students and teachers released a Common kestrel together. Our team expresses its gratitude to Dr Kalin Krastev for the assistance in organizing our strength with the young veterinarians.
