The team of the project "Life for Lesser kestrel" LIFE19 NAT/BG/001017 of the Green Balkans, funded by the EU LIFE program, visited two schools in Sakar.

Our hosts were the students from "Hristo Botev" Primary School in Levka and "Ivan Vazov" Primary School in Svilengrad.
In front of them, we talked about the Lesser kestrel, showed films and clips, talked about why it should be there, how to protect it, and what efforts the Green Balkans team made for its return to our country.

And the fact that it was in the Levka region that Lesser kestrels were returned to nature in Bulgaria after decades of absence was not only curious, but also made the children proud of the rich biological diversity of their native land.

At the end of our visit, each of the children received a t-shirt with the face of the kestrel as a souvenir, which they colored by themselves.

And, at the school in Levka, we used the opportunity to personally present the diplomas and awards to the children who participated in the drawing contest on the theme "Birds of prey" to our colleagues from the project "Natura 2000 in Bulgaria - New Horizons" of the Green Balkans. In return, the children gave us a wonderful, colorful birdhouse made by them as a souvenir!
