Today, on the same day, babies hatched in the nesting platforms of two pairs of Lesser kestrels from the colony of the species at the Green Balkans Rescue Center!

These are the first Lesser kestrels' chicks for this breeding season, not only in the colony of the species in the Center's aviaries but also from all the pairs observed by us, including the wild ones.
There are a total of 4 hatchlings - two in each nest!

According to the team of the project "Life for Lesser Kestrel" LIFE19 NAT/BG/001017 of the Green Balkans, funded by the LIFE program of the EU, at the moment there are a total of 24 pairs of the species formed in the Center, which have more than 100 eggs.

We remind you that the purpose of breeding birds "indoors" and their reproduction is to strengthen the wild population of Lesser kestrels, which was restored by Green Balkans, after decades of absence from our nature!

So the breeding season for the little falcons is now in full swing! We hope that this year we will have many hatchlings that will fly freely in the sky of Bulgaria at the end of the summer!
